Partnership

GEF, is currently partnering with seven rural School communities in Kassanda District in Uganda with programs that aim to promote education and peace that will in the long run create social, economic transformation in Uganda and the world at large. We would like to give a special thank you to the Ministry of Education in Kassanda District for partnering with us in our work.

We partner with Community pre -schools and primary schools that are willing to support Early Learning Programs. We share with the communities the importance of early learning. We then guide school stakeholders to undertake an institutional assessment, this helps them understand the school development level. Based on the findings, we guide the school to develop a five-year improvement plan for their school that typically includes but not limited to:

• Creating Nonviolent Schools, homes and communities;

• Leadership development; helping districts and schools create 5 year plans

• Improving school infrastructure (building classrooms, clean water systems and teacher’s quarters);

• Addressing health and sanitation issues;

• Supporting teachers with appropriate trainings;

• Implementing useful and appropriate curriculum; and

• Removing sensitive cultural and economic barriers that inhibit students from attending school — specifically for girls and young women
